Mini City Vibe :: A sex toy review

The lovely Cara at Sex Toys UK recently sent me some toys to review, I am now considering putting “Sex Toy Reviewer” as my profession on my passport, that should raise an eyebrow or two at passport control.
This is my first review, I’ll try and be honest but I might blush, used as I am to writing imaginary sex scenes, to let you into my own is somewhat nerve wracking.

The product:

Mini City Vibe

What they say about it:

For every city girl – this is the sophisticated vibe that never sleeps!

Small and discreet enough to fit in your handbag, you can carry this vibe wherever you go.

Softly rippled with a silky smooth finish this waterproof vibe gives sensations like no other.

What I say about it:

I love vibrators, I do, so I was very glad to receive one as my first toy to review.

The vibrator is small, just under 12 cm by 2 cm, takes a single AA battery, operates on a simple twist on and off from the base and has a single level of vibration.

The shaft is pink, rippled and has a smooth finish that doesn’t make you think ‘plastic’, all in all a nice looking, simple presentation.

This might not sound very exciting if you’re used to a rabbit vibrator that sings, dances and brings you a cup of tea after making you swing from the chandeliers, but as ever it all depends what you do with it.

Hovering just over the clit the insistent tickling sensation is delicious and brought me slowly yet thoroughly to arousal.  Sliding the shaft down along my slit the vibe continued to stimulate the network of nerves that took me towards orgasm.  Finally sliding it inside me the constant vibrations rippling through my pussy combined with more finger stimulation on my clit delivered me to orgasm.

The first time I used the Mini City Vibe I used some rechargeable batteries, smutty and eco-friendly that’s me, and it was a pleasant vibration level, as a dutiful researcher I then bought some new single use batteries and the difference was clear.  Still not the most powerful vibration but definitely a more intense level.

This isn’t a fast and furious vibrator, it is a leisurely indulgent afternoon wank or one for when your partner wants to take their time teasing and building you up to a state of wanton need.  For the exhibitionists it would also be a great toy to play with when out and about, sliding it up skirts and between legs as you are at dinner or for even for quickie in the loo at work.

The size and design of the vibrator means that you can carry it around in your bag and risk it falling out without being completely mortified and while it isn’t silent, I’ve not yet met a vibe that is, it isn’t a health and safety risk to your hearing eather.   It probably falls somewhere in the region of  ’not so noisy the guests in the spare room will hear it.”

After playing the Mini City Vibe is easy to clean, as it is waterproof, so you could play in the shower and get dirty while you’re getting clean, and easy to store cos it is so damn dinky.

Any downsides?

The twist on function didn’t seem to be very distinct from the screwing on of the battery cap (the silver tip at the base of the vibrator)  Which means that while the vibrator wont switch on in your bag or pocket by accident, you could unscrew the cap completely while turning the vibrator off.  It might seem a little thing but I think a click through on/off could be handy.

Overall the Mini City Vibe is a neat, portable, simple vibrator, it will bring you to orgasm, maybe not in seconds, but it is a thoroughly enjoyable slow ride.

great review, hon! :) must say, though – i’ve had trouble with mini-clicky ones. banging about in my bag kept catching the button, so whenever i snuck off to the ladies’ room, the battery was always f**kin’ dead! *throws hands up in exasperated frustration* >_

      Thanks Squeaky,
I was a bit nervous about writing the review but really enjoyed it and the vibe ;)

See I don’t have long to play – so unless those orgasms are gonna happen quick and fast im not too keen! I am a quick fix type of girl and time is of the essence. I am not a fan of small & dinky – I like the full size 7 then some – yes greedy maybe the word. Fab review & the 1st that has actually got me smiling in a while :)

      Well thank you Supermum.
It is a nice vibe, but my tastes do tend to run to something with a little more oomph when I’m alone, but if you have a willing accomplice and time then these kind of type of vibes can do a very good teasing job.
I’m really glad you liked the review, I was nervous of writing it, quite different to what I usually write.
      I think I got a good balance.
There will be more and I can guarantee there will be some with a bit more wham bam in them too.

It is a lovely colour. But not very wand like. (I’m looking for a new wand for the fantasy dressing table, by the stone frog).

I dread to think what it would be covered in if I placed it in my handbag. Too much escaped glitter and sparkle to begin with and I suspect in the corners, lots of broken biscuits.

Liked your review. Not so keen on their marketing blurb though.

      He he, thanks Pippy Elle.
I’m not sure I’m one to carry about vibrators in my handbag either, imagine at the post office counter when you’re looking for a pen and you pull that little pink number out by mistake!
I do have a clutch of vibes to review, so maybe you’ll find something more wand like in the next few months.
Hmm well you know someone has to write the sex toy marketing blurb so maybe I’ll look for that job in the classifieds.
      Thanks for reading and commenting.

Your reply reminded me: when I went back home some years ago, my boyfriend was carrying my travel bag in to the house. He and my father noticed a buzzing sound come from it. My father, much to my boyfriends embarrassment insisted that they find the source and unpacked the bag. Thank goodness they found the razor, buzzing, near the top!
